LetKolben has unveiled his fourth electronic-house album “Jungle of Chatterboxes”, a 13-track embodiment of his diverse production range that was created in last two years and reflect LetKolben’s life of that time and what happened with him.
“An Other Day” has masterful arrangements of shuffling percussion, moody chords, arpeggio melody, an ecstatic female vocal snippet and a retro-futuristic sheen. Thanks to a few massive breakdowns and dose of a good groove, “An Other Day” is a big, sunny and loud but it’s less subtle than other LetKolben’s tracks. Mixture of these dreamy sounds are nailing many feelings, which moves between melancholy and bliss.
“Nduja” a track that literally takes you by the hand to leads you to these spring days. The capturing power of its warm piano melody and the supporting vocals in a breakdown embrace all kinds of music tastes, fusing electronics shades with upbeat keys, moody stabs and romantic reverie. “Nduja” again highlights Kolben´s smooth credentials.
In next track “Dance With Charlottes” you will find his own emotional journey, leading to world and soul like a defined and compelling universe, offering quite a musical spectrum. It keeps a warm and somewhat organic atmosphere.
“Sexass” oozes a late night atmosphere with the build made for getting the dancefloor warmed up. Its relaxed synth keys and the short but very intense break unite flawlessly with the melodic basslines. The result it is become to a classic tune that stay in your head, this is hard not to love.
“Stand by Me” is a decent trip through his latter-day style of LetKolben’s music: deeper than minimal house. From the one side variously jazzy and shaded with live instrumentation, from the other side has a cosmic atmosphere with a grainy sheen. Paired with a kick drum, its glittering arrangement suddenly feels a bit twee, though on the right dance floor it could make for a dazzling moment.
As others great Kolben’s tracks, “Out of Space” is cut of the same glittering cloth, which is centred on chords and filtered synths, laying under hi-hats and percussion beats that are disrupting the synthetic sounds. Moreover, it features rousing different sound tropes: glitchy vocal, a nimble bassline and choral synth harmonies that give the track a movement charge.
From the first minute of “Jungle of Chatterboxes”, you know you’re dealing with an alchemist of sound. This is kind of track you can tell about – It was born from a live jam. The control of dynamics, space and texture makes for undeniable levels of impact. This is function-style banger with bright percussion sounds, atmospheric details, but there has also have a voice, which is sending an important message to the people, with meaning that – “Actions speak louder than words”.
“The Far Side of the Moon” refers to all the small bits and pieces his tracks. Inspired from a journey to the Moon, he used records of cosmonauts talking to weave them with rhythms and synth melodies. As result has created a great tune with moods of flaying to space. So listen closely.
“Transparency” it is a true groovy track with a gripping bassline, drifting melodies and vocals. That combination of sound as a story about those special moments on the floor that we all know. Kolben has managed to re-introduce his stile without even focusing on this.
“Weird Times” it is the sort of track that forms the backbone of a solid Minimal House and Tech House sessions. Like everything Kolben does, it’s a subtle spin on a familiar style. Its drums are placed front with mix of flute sounds and a seven-note phrase dressed in simple synth harmonies behind them. This whole mix have a propulsive energy to make bodies dance.
“Homophonic” is an immediate hymn consisting of a horn melody and supported by sexy percussions, an impulsive acid synth and a deep, pumping bass. Totally focusing on getting people to move. This one will stick right into your head.
Track „Story at the Campfire” is a melancholic electronic ballad featuring Netherlands artist Noraj Cue. He has contributed some musical parts, out of which Kolben has distilled loops to make the arrangement that creates that distant hopefulness that drives through this track’s core.
“Desolat” is a melodic track with sudden percussion fx effects along the way and guitar riff. Influenced by brilliant tune with wordless voices LetKolben again introduces an amazing groove but this time he combines it with hypnotic synth-sounds and even some slight strings building up tension. “Desolat” is an instant viber.
In many respects, LetKolben’s music has the ability to capture intensely personal emotions, transcend and make the indescribable tangible for others. “Jungle of Chatterboxes” this is lively, arresting new album is a fine direction of LetKolben’s sound, that never stays too far from you.
