Another EP release we’ve prepared to you this time. It’s a two original tracks made by Mobile Soul System: gently epic “Whole Point” and a weirder, more flat “Route”. These tracks are nails with minimalism and repetition. Pablo Marco, a producer from Spain has reinforced this musical picture with his remix of a track “Whole Point”.
“Whole Point” is a minimal track with a sense of house music, becoming ever more oddball as its wobbly rhythm picks up funny melodies and kick drums have entwined with muddy bass lines. High percussions and snippets of synths are beating together around in the mix as an ultra-subtle rhythm piece. It makes a sound a bit psychedelic but at the same time, melodies lift the music into warmer states to make a good balance. However, “Whole Point” the only track with a real melodic presence, will likely get the most spins.
“Route” is a bit morose, but things get more interesting later, offers moments of suspense. Music moves between ambient and a tumbledown kind of house, which contains a bass line, percussion and light background samples. There’s a hint of melancholy in a short riff, but a loud clap and an open hi-hat give the track a boost to carry all vibes, otherwise it seems like everything might evaporate at any minute.
Pablo Marco’s remix is reflection of two original tracks. He tooks some little parts of each original track, but mostly remix is basis on ideas of “Whole Point”. Remix follows a concept of release, but still have some own, special moods.
This release turned out to be a bit murky, with kind of tracks that can connect with clubbers’ minds more than their feet. However, music is ranging from the melodic to the abstract, it’s a well-rounded collection of tracks from producers who aims to bewitch, because the best minimal tracks aren’t just snazzy loops, but worlds to get lost in.
